Countertops!

We finally have a fully functional kitchen! The countertops are installed and the Blue Pearl granite looks beautiful:

Cabinet Installation

Here are the wall cabinets in place after cutting, pre-drilling, and anchoring:

Cabinets!

Our cabinets arrived this morning and were waiting for me in boxes when I return tonight!

After some wrestling with large boxes and cabinets, I got them in to place. These are the base cabinets on the window side...(the fridge will have a matching door as well).

This is the other side (which required some cutting to accommodate the plumbing):

Pixie is already thinking about jumping on the counter!

These are the wall cabinets waiting to be lifted and cut...maybe I'll work on them tomorrow night:

Thursday - 10/8/09

We're moved in!!

There's still some work to be done (kitchen cabinets, closet shelves, and light fixtures) but having a home has never felt so good!

The floors are done! Move-in is scheduled for tomorrow!

Tuesday - 10/6/09

Finally, a toilet and sink! The toilet is a Toto flushometer-type, the only kind that would fit in that corner. (The sink is on a temporary stand until I can make a cabinet with a marble top.)

Monday - 10/5/09

Saturday's photos are a little deceiving...we won't be able to move in until Thursday. By then the floors will have their final coat and the bathroom fixtures and all the electrical work will be done.

True to the title of this blog, we just moved to the fifth temporary living situation since all of this began. We hope that this will be our last!

Friday - 10/1/09

We're in the home stretch! All the tools, etc. we moved into the kitchen yesterday and the maple floors are ready for finishing today. Here are the floors before sanding:

Tiling and trim work in the bathroom is complete! All that's left is grouting, sealing the marble, painting and installing the fixtures.

The bathroom walls are being tiled! Here is part of the shower, a classic 3"x6" subway tile with a marble weave accent:

We passed the DOB plumbing inspection this morning! We can (finally) proceed with closing up the bathroom walls and tiling...

Hopefully some new pictures tomorrow.

We are up to painting and mouldings in all rooms except the bathroom...
